Colour
The most dominating colour used on the this contents is red, it brings out alot of vibrancy to the page which works well for Q. Also the masthead 'Q' is always in red, this relates to the famous logo and makes it more recognizable. The whole colour scheme for the contents is the same for the front cover, which is red, white and black. The colour scheme used makes it more sophisticated and classy but not at all boring as it has a seductive edge to it. I also think that Cherly Cole being in grey contrasts well with the red and adds more passion to the contents, and also adds dramatic affect as a whole and to the images.
Design
All of the images and text are on a clear background, this makes it more clear of what the text says also makes all other elements stand out, whereas if it was on a bright background the images and text wouldnt be as eyecathing. The contents spreads over two pages, this makes it look like there is alot of interesting things to read inside. The images are designed in a very unique way, it isnt all lined up neat but its all packed togather in an untidy order. I think that its more interesting when its messy as it gives more of an egde to it. The text on the otherhand is in a neat order surrounding the images, and is still in the same colour theme. I think having the text neat and the images messy goes really well together and seems to have a succsseful outcome. The text is also in a formal style, this makes it easy to understand for the target audiance.
Images
On this contents there are a lot of images used with numbers on them to indicate the page it is on and the different stories, this makes it far more interesting for the reader, whereas if it had a lot of text it would start to become boring. Cheryl cole dominates the first page of the double page contents, this is because she is the main feature of this issue so people would esspecially want to know what pages she is on.
Pose,hair style, make-up
She is posing in a sexy way like on the cover, this will attract the readers attention from the busy contents page. She is wearing sexy clothes with spikes and slits, this creates a suductive and dark side to her and also the genre of the magazine. All the images are different , there is no link to one another, for example there are pictures of bands playing live (biffy clyro) this shows the rock side to the magazine. There are also double page spread and a picture of Dean martin, this shows the older generation. Overall this shows us that there are a huge range of people reading Q and not just ristricted to one generation.
How are the words used?
The masthead runs across both pages, its clear to see and bold. The words 'contents' stands out clearly as its black on a red background, and also the issue number '283' stands out, this shows the popularity of the magazine. The large page numbers are also clear, this means that it is more important then the smaller text, because the bigger the text the more important it is. There is quite alot of text on the contents, this means that the magazine has a lot of content. The first page text is all the features and on the second page is shows the regulars and the Q review. Lastly the red lines under each story makes it easy to understand and quite sopisticated.
Language
The language on this contents is quite high class but not too much that the target audiance wont want to read it or understand it, but enough to target the morte mature audinace. The headings are short and straight to the point and not boring the readers with pointless text. The words 'regulars' makes the readers more intimate with the magazine as some readers are regulars. The word 'special' stands out as its bold and in red, this makes it more interesting and eyecathing, which is what Q is trying to do.
Overall impression
I think that a lot is going on in the contents, however it doesnt look messy it still looks professional and classy. The colour scheme makes it more intersting and sophisticated and it goes well with the main feature Cheryl Cole. You can tell by the content of the text that the reader is getting more then what they paid for, which is a good thing as it doesnt turn off the audiance because of the lack of content. It seems to have targeted more of a mature and older generation with the text and pictures, this shows the personality of the reader. Overall it shows the passion of rock with the red vibrant colours, but also shows the dark and dangerours side with Cheryl Coles sexyness.
